Salinas police are searching for suspects in two home-invasion robberies that were reported Thursday.

The two robberies took place about 9a.m. and 11a.m., and police believe the same people were responsible. No one was injured.

At a home in the 500 block of San Benito Street, a woman caught an intruder as he came out of her son’s bedroom, police said.

The intruder left after the woman said she was calling police, officers said. The man was seen getting into a white minivan driven by a woman, police said.

In the second robbery, a man followed a woman to her apartment in 100 block of Kenneth Avenue and forced his way in. The woman had given the man a glass of water after he asked for one while she was outside, police said.

A knife was held to the woman’s throat, police said, but she was not harmed.

The man fled after the woman’s daughter came out of a bedroom and scared him away. Police said the man grabbed a necklace from one of the women before fleeing.

In both incidents, the intruder was described as being about 30 years old, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall and about 170 pounds. He wore dark pants, a baseball cap and blue denim jacket, according to the victims.

The victim was hit at least once in the shoulder and was taken to a hospital by a relative. Police said the wounded man was treated and released.

Hurtado was wanted on a warrant and was carrying a syringe loaded with heroin, officers said.

A third man, Lawrence Velasquez, 33, was wanted on a warrant in Santa Cruz County, police said.

The arrests were made while officers were searching for a stolen vehicle. Ramirez and Hurtado matched a description of the suspects, police said.
