Almaden Quicksilver History Hike in San Jose, December 9

Date: December 09, 2018

Time: 9:00 am

Come explore the landscape around the historic New Almaden mercury mine. Mining ceased in 1976, but New Almaden was once the 2nd largest producer of mercury in the world. (That’s how the San Jose Mercury News got its name!)
Our history hike takes us through the rolling foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains. We’ll enjoy wonderful views of downtown San Jose and the Diablo Mountain Range to the east and the Santa Cruz Mountains to the west.
